Solar Array Configuration Guide

Sustaining a 40 HP motor requires a massive solar footprint. Sizing the PV array properly prevents system dropouts during low-light hours or extreme summer heat:

1. Total Solar Array Capacity: It is highly recommended to oversize the PV array to between 39 kW and 45 kW (1.3 to 1.5 times the inverter rating).
2. String Wiring Layout: If utilizing standard 550W panels (with an Open Circuit Voltage \(V_{oc}\) of roughly 50V per panel):
   • You will need 72 to 80 panels in total.
   • Correct Layout: Divide them into three parallel strings (3 Strings × 24 or 26 panels in series). This configuration multiplies the incoming current three times to meet the heavy amp requirement while keeping the series string voltage safely within the 800V DC ceiling.
